Hema Govindan quits Nick India

Nick’s Hema Govindan has put in her papers because of personal reasons which require her to be based in Delhi

Hema Govindan, general manager and vice-president, Nick India, has put in her papers. The reasons cited for her resignation are personal in nature and require her to be based in Delhi.

Since Nick does not have a full-fledged office in Delhi, except for its sales division, she has been compelled to quit, she said. According to her, it wasn’t possible to manage the work from Delhi and the frequent visits to Mumbai were becoming difficult for her.

Amit Jain, managing director, MTV Networks India, and executive vice-president, MTV Networks Asia, said, “In her short stint at Nick, Hema has not only led the channel’s growth, but also built a strong team under her.”

As per the channel, Govindan will continue in her current assignment till a replacement is finalised and, during this time, Jain will also work closely with the Nick team.

Govindan has been with Nick for less than a year. She joined Nick in September 2005, replacing Pradeep Hejmadi, the then business head of MTV Networks.

Prior to that, she was the head of marketing and communications for Walt Disney Television International (India), where she worked for about a year. Before that, she worked at Turner Entertainment Network Asia, Burson-Masteller and Ogilvy & Mather.
