Bhaskar Group unveils the Kirtikaar Bhaskar Creative Awards

The awards will recognise the talent of regional agencies in Bhaskar markets such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chattisgarh, Haryana and Chandigarh

The Bhaskar group has unveiled the Kirtikaar Bhaskar Creative Awards. ‘Kirtikaar’ implies a direct reference to ‘one who creates’. The awards aim to boost and elevate the motivational drive of the creative people who work for regional clients in the regional areas.

Big agencies in the metros get recognition for their work from awards such as AAAI and the Abbys, but the Kirtikaar Awards will provide a kind of benchmark for the regional agencies to look up to and create better advertisements with the hope of getting their work acknowledged.

The awards will recognise the talent of creative and media agencies in Bhaskar markets such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chattisgarh, Haryana and Chandigarh.

The awards will consider mainly press ads; TV creatives have not been included for the moment. This is because there are only a few regional agencies in these markets which regularly create first-rate television commercials.

The categories that are being evaluated for the awards include real estate, education, automobiles, electronics and household durables, FMCG, fashion and lifestyle promotion, sales promotion, showroom, retail and events, print, innovation, outdoor and direct marketing.

The award entries will open on August 21, 2006, and close on September 8, 2006. Entries will be judged in Mumbai around mid-September and the awards will be given in two stages.

The first stage will involve Bhaskar states divided into three clusters: Gujarat in Cluster 1, Rajasthan, Haryana and Chandigarh in Cluster 2 and Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh in Cluster 3. There will be one winner from each cluster for the award. The second level will have a single collective winner from all the Bhaskar states taken together.

Sanjeev Kotnala, senior general manager, Bhaskar Group, says “Even if good creative talent exists in the regional areas of the country it may never come out because of the level of prevalent advertising standards. The award entries will be evaluated by the renowned names in the India advertising fraternity. Eventually, the award will help to improve the creative standards and help agencies develop better communication for their clients by drastically improving the quality of communication.”
