Rajit Desai, group manager, marketing, Times Now, has put in his papers. He has joined the strategic media technology group, Media e2e, as vice-president, broadcast business applications.

At Media e2e, Desai’s mandate will be to conceptualise, develop and launch several technical applications/software which will be of use to broadcasters and media houses. For instance, one such application, ‘Bizmaps’, is around the corner. This is a business intelligence software that will help provide high-quality data analysis to media houses and help them integrate various data seamlessly and quickly, such as viewership/financial data.

As per a joint statement issued by Atul Phadnis and Julie Petersen, senior partners at Media e2e, “Desai brings in a varied and valuable expertise to spearhead critical projects within the company.”

In his last assignment at Times Now, Desai was heading the consumer marketing and research functions. Desai started his career around 10 years ago with HTA’s media department (HTA, now JWT, earlier had a media division which evolved into a separate entity, MindShare).

Having worked in the media function for three years, Desai joined Sony Entertainment Television. While there, he contributed to the team that won the Emvies twice in the category ‘Media Marketer of the Year’. During the same period, he also helped clinch the PROMAX World Gold for the ‘Shiksha’ campaign. This campaign was a co-promotion between the channel and P&G, and Desai was among those who conceptualised the idea for this campaign.
