‘Dainik Bhaskar’ launches Jalandhar, Amritsar editions

The company claims that it is the first newspaper in Punjab to have all its pages in colour from day one

The Punjab market seems to be the destination for Hindi dailies. ‘Dainik Jagran’ has recently launched its Amritsar edition. It is now the turn of ‘Dainik Bhaskar’, which has launched its Jalandhar and Amritsar editions. The company claims that it is the first newspaper in Punjab to have all its pages in colour from day one.

The Bhaskar Group conducted a door-to-door survey of 4,72,542 households to understand their desires and wants, after which it conducted the subscription phase or the second round of door-to-door contact, resulting in 1,76,000 paid subscriptions.

Jagdish Sharma, project head, Punjab, says, “We believe that there are many markets which have been left untapped and the entry of a strong newspaper will only expand the market.”

Dharmendra Atri, project-in-charge, Punjab, says, “Expansion is inevitable and we have already tasted success in that aspect in markets such as Rajasthan and Gujarat. It is very logical to state that an increased readership base only converts to a more aware population and, hopefully, better citizens and society.”

For the record, the Bhaskar Group has a presence in newspapers, television, entertainment, printing, textiles, FMCG, oils, solvents and Internet services.
