India Today Group brings ‘Men’s Health’ to India

The monthly magazine hits the news stands today with its November issue and is priced at Rs 50

The India Today Group has launched the Indian edition of the US based ‘Men’s Health’, the largest men’s magazine in the world. The Indian edition will be the magazine’s 37th edition. The November issue of the monthly magazine is now available in major cities across India.

With an initial print run of 50,000 copies, ‘Men’s Health’ will be priced at Rs 50 per issue.

‘Men’s Health’ claims to be the largest player in the men’s lifestyle segment worldwide, with a readership of over 20 million readers across 43 countries. It will cover aspects of relevance to men like health, fitness, nutrition, sex, relationships, style, gadgets and gizmos.

Jamal Shaikh is the editor of the Indian edition of ‘Men’s Health’. Jamal has worked earlier with ‘DNA’ and ‘The Times of India’ and has more than 12 years of experience. He has a keen interest in health, fitness and sport and has worked in international media.

With the tag line, ‘The Magazine Men Live By’, ‘Men’s Health’ is positioned to be a contemporary lifestyle magazine, aimed at active, successful, professional men, who are conscious of their all-round development.

‘Men’s Health’ is described as being all about personal relevance and by, for and about men. The magazine assures extensive coverage of utilisable and entertaining information.

Elucidating on the group’s intent behind bringing the magazine to the Indian market, Ashish Bagga, CEO, India Today Group, says, “Niche media is the way to go in today’s times of low attention spans and the myriad forms of media available at hand. It was a natural progression for us as India’s leading magazine publisher to identify those niche areas and present internationally respected media brands.” Bagga defined this as a significant part of the group’s growth strategy.

Pavan Varshnei, publishing director, ‘Men’s Health’, says, “The magazine will serve as a guidebook for men, providing them with inputs on how to live healthier and happier. This is imperative considering the rising awareness and consciousness among men about their lifestyle and overall well-being.

“‘Men’s Health’ will not just show men what they can be, but also tell them how they can be what they really want to be,” he adds.

The inaugural issue carries articles on weight loss, stamina, the findings of a global sex survey and technological advances in curing heart disease.

For the record, ‘Men’s Health’ was launched in 1988 and is published by Rodale Press in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, USA.
