NDTV has announced new CEO appointments to head the group’s new growth ventures. Vikram Chandra will serve as chief executive officer and managing director of NDTV Networks PLC, a 100 per cent subsidiary incorporated in the UK. Smeeta Chakrabarti will be the chief executive officer of NDTV Lifestyle. Rahul S Deshpande will take on the responsibility of chief executive officer of NDTV Labs, the software and technology company.
Chandra will report to KVL Narayan Rao, chief executive officer, NDTV Group, and to the Board of Directors of NDTV Networks. He will be responsible for steering growth for the group’s new business initiatives worldwide, including entertainment, lifestyle, convergence, outsourcing, new channels set up in different countries and software and technology development. All these initiatives, led by professional CEOs, will be run and managed as independent entities.

Chandra holds a BA degree in Economics from St Stephen’s, Delhi University, and an MA in politics and economics from the University of Oxford, UK.
He started his career as a reporter with Newstrack in 1991. He joined NDTV in 1995 and was did frontline reporting from Kargil and Siachen. He has anchored more than 1,000 hours of live coverage of elections, budgets and Indo-Pak summits and won prestigious industry awards for his shows. He has been honoured as a Global Leader of Tomorrow in 2007 by The World Economic Forum in Davos.
Smeeta Chakrabarti, as chief executive officer of NDTV Lifestyle, will be responsible for launching new channels in the lifestyle genre. She will continue to carry out her current responsibilities as head of operations for the NDTV Group. She has been working with NDTV since its inception 18 years ago. She brings with her immense talent and the highest standards in television production and management.
Rahul S Deshpande, as chief technology officer of NDTV, has been heading engineering and IT for more than 12 years. In his new role, he will be responsible for developing the market and selling software and technology products and solutions created by in-house team specialists.
Deshpande and his team have won four Commonwealth awards in the last five years for innovative engineering and technology. His experience with technology partnership networks and independent software vendors equips him with cross-domain knowledge and relationships, enabling better penetration in global markets.
