Outlook Group tests waters in the lifestyle space

The group is all set to launch a lifestyle magazine, ‘Envy’, which will be distributed free with ‘Outlook’ in the second week of every month

The lifestyle segment is the next destination for the magazine publisher, the Outlook Group. The group has decided to test the market with the launch of a new lifestyle magazine, ‘Envy’, which will, for now, be distributed free along with its flagship publication, ‘Outlook’, in the second week of every month.

‘Envy’, which will start with a print run of 1,40,000 copies, hopes to go independent later, but that will depend on the response it gets while it is distributed free with ‘Outlook’.

The magazine, which is targeted at readers in the three metros of Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, claims to be aspirational and a style icon. It carries the tagline, ‘The Style of Life’.

Starting with “frame and keep it sort of covers”, the rich content will include people, personalities, lifestyle, photo album, design and décor, food, travel, E-factor, fashion, speed and gadgets, accessories and other fun elements.

“‘Envy’ will mix fun with finesse, and showcase fashion, gadgets and other elements that urban India wants from a lifestyle magazine. It will not just talk about goals, but also the chase,” says Maheshwar Peri, publisher, Outlook Group.

“We think there is a void in the market when it comes to a quality Indian lifestyle magazine and with ‘Envy’, we intend to fill that space,” explains Peri, when quizzed about the economics behind the new magazine.

The Outlook Group already has other titles, including ‘Outlook’, ‘Outlook Money’, ‘Outlook Traveler’ and ‘Outlook Saptahik’.

The Outlook Group had earlier tied up with French publishing company Group Marie Claire to publish the international women’s magazine, ‘Marie Claire’, from India.
