Jupiter Entertainment Venture, the entertainment and leisure arm of Jupiter Capital founded by Rajeev Chandrasekhar, is ready to roll out its Kannada channel by June 17, 2007. The company currently has two brands -- Indigo and Asianet -- in its stable.

The Kannada general entertainment channel has been named ‘Suvarna’ with a tag line ‘24-Carat manoranjane’. The channel has been positioned as complete family entertainment with a mix of soap operas, serials, game shows, talk shows, movies and news. ‘Suvarna’ will have over 80 per cent of programming produced in house.

Determined to take the Kannada television industry by storm, Shyam Sunder, chief creative officer, Suvarna claims, “The channel will have the most comprehensive entertainment basket for the complete family. Our prime time programmes will be far superior in comparison to those the Kannada television space offers today”.

“Suvarna is the answer to quality Kannada television” adds K Madhavan, managing director, Jupiter Entertainment Ventures. It is betting high on its in-house high production values, innovative programming, movies titles and news offerings.

Jupiter Entertainment Ventures is poised to launch Asianet in regional languages -- Telugu, Tamil and Marathi. Its radio brand Radio Indigo, currently on-air in Bangalore, will launch in Goa soon.
