The development has been confirmed by Tariq Ansari, managing director, Mid-Day Multimedia, which owns Radio One. Says Ansari, “We are looking to build the FM network in metro cities that matter. Vineet’s experience in radio, music and advertising will help us in defining what urban radio in this country is all about and strengthen synergies across our newspaper, radio and digital plays.”

Radio One, a joint venture between Mid-Day Multimedia and BBC Worldwide, has FM stations in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai, and will soon commence operations in Ahmedabad, Pune and Kolkata.

Hukmani, 40, is an engineer and MBA who has worked in senior positions with agencies such as Mudra, Saatchi & Saatchi and Grey. In between, he also switched over to the client’s side, working for companies such as WorldSpace, Indigo Radio, and BPL Sanyo. Hukmani is also the lead singer of the band, ‘Balle Balle Boyz’, which has three albums to its credit.
