Sandip Ghose moves to Lafarge

Ghose has put in his papers at HT Media and joined Lafarge as senior vice president

Sandip Ghose, vice president - new initiatives, HT Media has put in his papers after spending three years with the media company. Ghose has now joined Lafarge India as senior vice president and head of corporate affairs. The responsibilities would include managing external relations, communication and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities.

Lafarge is the French multinational operating in cements. In India their current operations are concentrated in eastern India where they have a dominant presence in most markets. Lafarge has major green-field projects underway in Himachal, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Meghalaya among others.

Sandip was part of the team that launched Hindustan Times in Mumbai. He took over as the business head for west & south soon thereafter before moving to Delhi as the head of new ventures, magazines, events and entertainment earlier this year.

Prior to joining HT, Sandip worked for the ABP group where he was the vice president and businesss head for The Telegraph and Businessworld. He is generally credited for the commercial turn-around of Businessworld and consolidating the leadership position of The Telegraph against stiff competitive challenge from TOI & HT in Calcutta.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, for four years, Ghose was also the managing director of Nepal Levers, a subsidiary of HUL, with which he was associated for 19 years, since he began his career in 1983.
