‘Divya Bhaskar’ launches afternoon daily, ‘DB Gold’

The tabloid rolled out on September 5 with an initial print run of 80,000 copies

‘Divya Bhaskar’ has launched ‘DB Gold’, a Gujarati afternoon daily catering to industrialists, traders and businessmen in Surat.

The tabloid has been circulated only in Surat as yet, with an initial print run of 80,000 copies. If all goes as per plans, the Bhaskar Group expects the circulation to touch the one lakh mark in the next few months, and four lakhs in the near future.

The 24-page tabloid hit the stands on September 5. It is a light tabloid, covering various topics including entertainment, puzzles, crime and glamour news.

Speaking to agencyfaqs!, Ashwini Agarwal, state head, Gujarat, ‘Divya Bhaskar’, says, “We wanted a daily that would cater to the industry driven people of Surat. They are less busy during the afternoon, 1-4 pm, and the tabloid is a good way to spend that time.”

The editorial team for ‘DB Gold’ comprises executive editor Dilip Gohil; reporting head Chirantana Bhatt; and crime team head Prashant Dayal. The tabloid will cover ongoing and pending cases, investigations and sting operations.

‘Divya Bhaskar’ intends to market its new tabloid through hoardings and market surveys.
