Sony Entertainment Television is all set to take the competition by its horns by launching two brand new weekend shows, K for Kishore, a musical talent hunt, and Champion Chaalbaaz No.1, a pun-intended show based on American original Pranksters.

Sony Entertainment Television through its newest offering, ‘K for Kishore’, will try to relive the times of the legend Kishore Kumar. Come December 21, every Friday, Saturday 9.00 pm, a few selected young men, who have tried to master the voice of the legendary singer over the years across India, will compete to be crowned Kishore Kumar’s ‘Heir Apparent’ – a voice that is closest to the legend.

‘K for Kishore’ is a music reality show, which will run over 10 weeks (20 episodes), with 12 contestants, all professional & seasoned singers, competing and aiming at being the voice closest to that of Kishore Kumar. The judges for the show are popular music director and singer Bappi Lahiri who knew Kishore da as a friend and musician, singer Sudesh Bhonsle, who completed all Kishore da’s incomplete film songs after his death.

Says, Albert Almeida, EVP & business head, SET, says, “’K for Kishore’ is a truly exciting concept that will bring back the magic of the legendary Kishore Kumar. 12 great singers handpicked from across the country will re-create this magic and compete to be his ‘singing prodigy’. The journey of finding Kishore’s ‘Singing Heir Apparent’ promises to enthrall audiences and help them connect and relive the glorious era of the legendary Kishore Kumar.”

Sony Entertainment Television has once again partnered with production houses Miditech after Indian Idol (1, 2 and 3). SET through its marketing and promotional efforts with its partners Radio Mirchi and IBN 7 promises to take this popular show across the nation.

Also, the channel has roped in Saajid Khan and Cyrus Brocha to judge a bunch of pranksters from across the country in the Indian version of American prank show Pranksters. The show called as ‘Champion Chaalbaaz No.1’, will replace ‘Comedy Circus’ – the show that just finished its second season – every Saturday at 10.00 pm, December 22 onwards.

These contestants will be judged by a live studio audience and Cyrus Brocha and Saajid Khan, who will judge and critique them on their skill and finally crown ‘Champion Chaalbaaz No. 1’.

Each episode will showcase 3 pranksters who will pull off an individual prank followed by them getting together to pull off a combined prank. Every episode will also feature a celebrity prank.

Adds, Almeida, “With ‘Champion Chaalbaaz No. 1’, Sony Entertainment Television aims to further explore the genre by bringing out the mischievous side of the common man, and promises to keep viewers’ tickled and entertained.”

‘Champion Chaalbaaz No. 1’ is the Indian version of the international format Prankstar from Endemol India. This format show is simultaneously launched for the first time in India and the US. Endemol had earlier produced shows such as ‘Bigg Boss’, and ‘Fear Factor’ in the past for SET. SET has tied up with RED FM and IBN 7 to promote these shows across the nation.

The channel will launch promotional campaign two weeks before the launch of the two shows and two weeks after the launch across all media including, print, television and outdoor.
