Sargunan Venugopal has joined the South Indian television network, Raj TV, as president, sales and marketing. Prior to this, he was working as president, marketing, with Chitra Corporate OOH, which is based in Ahmedabad.
Commenting on his appointment, Venugopal says, “Raj TV has a unique position in the South. The network has new channels lined up for launch and the sheer challenge of this was what attracted me. My role here involves developing the marketing plan, setting up nationwide branches and consolidating a team of highly motivated marketing personnel.”
He continues, “I have spent 10 years in the media industry in the print and OOH domains. Currently, TV channels are in a boom phase and provide clients with more chances of innovation and response than other media. With my experience, I am confident that I will perform my best.”

In another development, Raj TV has elevated Vivek Vaidya as associate vice-president, sales and marketing, West, and Sanjay Banerjee as associate vice-president, sales and marketing, North and East.
Vaidya joined Raj TV as general manager, West, in November 2006. He is an MBA and law graduate from Nagpur University. He has been instrumental in generating new business for Raj TV. He had earlier worked as a manager at the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and handled the export of Indian feature films.
Banerjee joined the organisation in December 2006 as general manager, North. In his current role, he will strategise and spearhead the sales and marketing team to facilitate sales across designated verticals.
Prior to Raj TV, Banerjee worked with InNetwork Entertainment, part of the Hinduja Group. He spent three years there as head, marketing, North. He is an alumnus of Symbiosis Management Institute in Pune, and has more than 15 years of experience in the media industry. He began his career with Indian Express Newspapers.
