The all India viewership ratings for the tournament are more or less unchanged for the first three matches. Of course, the non-metros weren’t as excited as the metros
The national verdict is out. The IPL tournament has caught the attention of the country. TAM Media Research has released the all India viewership data for the first three matches of the tournament. From the looks of it, the league has created ripples in the non-metros as well, but not as much as in the six metros.
According to the TAM data, the first match played between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers Bangalore generated a TVR of 7.2, the highest rating across the country. This match was a bigger hit in the six metros alone, reaching a TVR of 8.59, the highest recorded so far.
The highest TVR recorded across India was in Gujarat, where the Kolkata Knight Riders versus Royal Challengers Bangalore match got a TVR of 9.7; the one between the Rajasthan Royals and the Delhi Daredevils got 7.7. Down South, the zeal was most subdued in Andhra Pradesh, where the highest TVR recorded was just 3.4 on the first day.
TAM has conducted a profile check on the audiences that tuned in to the tournament. According to the report, 64 per cent of the viewers were men; 38 per cent belonged to the 35+ age group; 28 per cent belonged to SEC B, D and E; and only 20 per cent belonged to SEC A.
