Reliance Entertainment forays into movie marketing business with Big Boom

The movie marketing division will be a one-stop-shop for all the marketing needs of films

Filmmakers have not only realised the importance of marketing in the success of movies, they have also learnt that the spin-offs in film marketing can rake in the moolah.

Reliance BIG Entertainment, the media conglomerate of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), has decided to fulfil the needs of these filmmakers. It has launched a movie marketing business, Big Boom, that will provide marketing solutions to films.

Rajesh Bhushan, business head, Big Boom claims that new venture will offer a script-to-screen model for the production houses.

“A film nowadays requires a lot of marketing. This division will work towards generating value for money options for filmmakers,” he says.

The new venture is an attempt to bridge the gap between traditional (films) and professional (brands) worlds. BIG Boom will work towards delivering evolved and effective marketing solutions for both films and brands. The company promises to provide all kinds of services starting from designing of film posters, positioning the movie, create promos, and also help the filmmakers in tie-ups with brands, music labels and other initiatives. It will also assist brands in leveraging the entertainment platform to achieve their business objectives.

“With ADAG being such a big conglomerate, there are various deals that can be offered to filmmakers. We will try to bring all the ADAG brands and other corporate brands to a common table for the producers to choose from,” informs Bhushan.

The revenue model of the new venture will based on a fixed fee for providing marketing solutions. In case of tie ups the company will take away a small percentage of deal as commission.

Bhushan believes in the mantra of ‘Jo dikhta hai toh bikta hai’. To ensure that its clients get value for money deals, Big Boom aims to provide innovative and cost-effective film marketing solutions to producers.

“Our focus will not be on huge premieres, instead we will offer cost-effective solutions, where focussed groups can be targeted. On-ground activity is one such initiative that has the potential of generating good impact,” he adds.

The newly launched venture is presently in discussions with producers, such as Ravi Chopra, Ram Gopal Verma, Dharmesh Darshan and a few other production houses.

Big Boom also has an undisclosed youth-oriented film in its kitty, for which it is in discussions with Rcom and Big FM for activations. Big Boom will send regular reminders and will also organise various activities in colleges to promote the film.

For the record, Reliance ADAG has presence across telecom, financial services, infrastructure, entertainment and healthcare.
