CNBC Awaaz to launch a reality show to pick aspiring entrepreneurs

Kishore Biyani will play guide and mentor to select entrepreneurs on the show

CNBC Awaaz is gearing up to launch a corporate reality show called Chota Business Bade Sapne -- Ban Jao Biyani. The show aims to spot and encourage entrepreneurial talent from small and medium enterprises.

Speaking to afaqs!, Sanjay Pugalia, editor-in-chief, CNBC Awaaz, says, “The distinguishing feature of this corporate reality show is that we are inviting entries from individuals, who already have a business of their own. We are on the lookout for promising entrepreneurs, who have a business model and a vision for upscaling their existing ventures.”

The successful entrepreneur, Kishore Biyani of Future Group, will act as a guide and mentor to participants on the show.

The channel has just finished the on-ground activities for the show. Pugalia shares that the channel has received almost 2,000 entries from across the country. The channel then reached out to the interested participants by organising panel discussions in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Ludhiana.

The on-ground activities were held in February, where the selected entrepreneurs were asked to present their ideas and business model to a panel consisting of representative members of various industrial and financial enterprises.

Elaborating on the format and various rounds of the reality show, Pugalia explains, “The show will go on-air in mid-March. It will have six activities or rounds, where six individuals will present their cases and will argue why their projects should be considered for funding. Of the 2,000 entries we have received, we will first shortlist 1,000 entries, and from there on, prune the list to 100 contestants. Several rounds will see the number of participants coming down to 25. The finals will see six contestants fighting it out on the small screen.”

The winner of the reality show will get access to marketing expertise and better support management for taking the existing business to the next level, however, the winner will not be entitled to financial support or funding for supporting their business.
