GEC Watch: Ghajini advantage for Colors; Zee back at No 3

Colors is the most watched Hindi general entertainment channel, as per Week 23 data from TAM Media Research (C&S, 4+, HSM audiences), with a 23 per cent share of the GEC pie. Colors is 24 GRPs ahead of STAR Plus, which has managed to record 246 GRPs.

STAR Plus, with a 21 per cent relative share, is at No. 2. The channel is just 11 GRPs ahead of newly resurrected Zee, which, with a 20 per cent share, is at No. 3.

Colors retained the top spot this week with the television premiere of Ghajini, starring Aamir Khan. The movie, which was aired on Sunday, May 31, at 8 pm, garnered a TVR of 4.8.

NDTV Imagine is at No. 4 again, with 106 GRPs in Week 23, followed by Sony, which has lost 7 GRPs from last week. The relative channel shares of Imagine and Sony stand at 9 and 8 per cent respectively.

Among the new line-up introduced on Sony post IPL, Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega has managed to rake in a TVR of 1.32 on the day of launch. Other shows such as Bhaskar Bharti and Ladies Special have garnered TVRs close to 1.

STAR One follows at No 6 with 60 GRPs. STAR One and SAB have garnered a share of 5 and 4 per cent respectively, while Sahara One and DD1 have both managed to grab 3 per cent share. 9X and STAR Utsav are at par with 2 per cent share each, followed by Real which has garnered 1 per cent share.

Zee’s new show, Aap Ki Antara has recorded a TVR of 3.3, and has also made an appearance on the list of top 10 most watched programmes on Hindi GECs. Zee’s other new show, Pavitra Rishta, has garnered a TVR of 3.

Among the other top 10 most watched programmes, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Bidaai retain the top two slots, with TVRs of 6.3 and 5.2, respectively. Balika Vadhu managed to fetch a TVR of 4.6, while Chhoti Bahu recorded 4.34.

The other top programmes were: Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, Uttaran, Na Aana Is Des Laado and Betiyaan Ghar Ki Lakshmi. Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat and Jai Shri Krishna were ousted from the Top 10 list in Week 23.
