Kamat moves from Starcom Worldwide, where she was head of the Bengaluru operations as GM

Mediacom Mumbai has a new operations head, with Ashwini Kamat joining as general manager. Kamat has moved from Starcom Worldwide, where she was heading the Bengaluru operations as GM for a year.
In her new role, Kamat will report to Divya Gururaj, managing director of the company and will oversee strategic communication planning, research and insights functions, across MediaCom's client base.
The position of general manager, Mumbai has been specially created for Kamat. According to Gururaj, Kamat's appointment will further strengthen Mediacom's forte of ROI based planning.
Kamat has over 12 years of experience that includes heading an office, new business development, strategic media planning, media implementation, below the line and rural media activation. She has worked on diverse categories such as soaps, skin care, financial services, automobiles, retail, insurance, online lotteries and liquor.
She started her career with Fulcrum (now Mindshare Fulcrum) in 1997, the specialized unit of GroupM for servicing the HUL account. A year later, she moved to McCann, to move to Initiative another year later. In 2002, she moved to Starcom Worldwide, where she held different positions in the seven years that she spent there.
Kamat is an engineer and an MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj Management Institute, Mumbai.
In an official communiqué, Kamat said that she was attracted to MediaCom for its focus on people – clients, employees and media owners.
