Bhatia joined My FM in 2007 as business head
My FM, the radio station from the stable of Synergy Media Entertainment, a wholly owned company of the Bhaskar group, has promoted its chief operating officer, Harrish M Bhatia as chief executive officer.
Bhatia has been with My FM since its launch in 2007. He had joined the organisation in the capacity of business head.
Agarwal calls Bhatia an agile, versatile and multi-tasking individual, who has been spearheading innovations within the brand and the business operations. He credits Bhatia for the dynamic performance of My FM.
Bhatia, who has a background in sales and marketing, also takes credit for My FM achieving operational break-even within three years of its launch. During his tenure, the radio operator has also won several awards, including Best Station Launch at IRF 2008, Brand Leadership Award at the World Brand Congress 2010 and the prestigious NAB International Broadcasting Award 2010 - a first for the Indian radio industry.
Commenting on his new role, Bhatia says, "I'm very keen on bringing in some more positive changes at My FM. The radio industry is under a lot of pressure right now, with the third phase of radio licensing hanging in mid air. Whether the industry's issues get resolved or not, radio stations will have to look at evolving in the coming times."
Bhatia also hinted at expansion of the business through the newly launched activations division of My FM, calling the task at hand an interesting and challenging opportunity.
