The Indian broadcasting landscape is dotted by the presence of major TV brands from across the world, including News Corporation, Disney, Viacom, Turner, Sony, Endemol, BBC and Celador, among others. Besides, it also has a number of domestic players giving stiff competition to the international media brands. Profitable local firms include successful names such as Zee, Sun and Balaji.

TV.NXT will tackle real time issues affecting the Indian TV industry. Despite being the second largest TV industry in the world, the business is worth only $6.5 billion. The two day event will see discussions/debates on the impact of the recent economic slowdown on the industry; the impact of long drawn structural issues on the industry's revenue; future growth path for the industry; and its ability to scale-up.

Eminent speakers from across the world and India will spearhead the debate on the status of the industry at the forum. Some of the speakers at the event include Vikram Kaushik, chief executive officer, Tata Sky; Punit Kinra, CEO, Balaji Telefilms; Punit Goenka, CEO, ZEEL; Matt O'Grady, executive vice-president, audience measurement, Nielsen NY; LV Krishnan, CEO, TAM Media; Vanita Kohli-Khandekar, independent media consultant and writer; Rajesh Kamat, CEO, Colors; Sanjay Gupta, chief operating officer, STAR India; Manjit Singh, CEO, Multi Screen Media; Gautam Anand, director, Google; and Ravi Kiran, CEO, South Asia and emerging market leader of specialist solutions, Starcom MediaVest Group.

The first day of the forum will see speakers discussing topics such as 'Why acquisitions are rare in TV business?', 'How to build a global TV brand?', 'How to nurture speciality TV channels?', 'The Mobile and TV - possibilities and reality?' and 'The languages that work on TV and why?'.

The second day will see panellists debating topics such as 'The Internet and TV - possibilities and reality', 'Can Bhojpuri split the Hindi GEC market?', 'The perils of being a national broadcaster', 'India versus China - Does the comparison hold?', 'Demographic shifts, media fragmentation and the impact of online video - The US market perspective', and 'The CPT versus CPRP debate'.

With diverse topics up for discussion, speakers at TV.NXT will address subjects ranging from TV content and TV distribution to broadcasting. Various stakeholders of the industry, including broadcasters, distributors, marketers and media agencies, will meet on a common platform to exchange perspectives.

The forum will also bring together the entire ecosystem supporting the broadcasting industry. Other stakeholders such as software producers, audit and measurement firms, lawyers, consultants, technology firms and regulators who work in tandem with the broadcasting industry will also participate and contribute to the discussions at the forum.
