Until now, the Gujarati Mid Day has been available from Monday to Saturday. It is a morning newspaper and according to company officials, the daily is mostly circulated through the home delivery network.

The Sunday tabloid will have 64 pages on an average, and will have an initial print run of 1 lakh copies, which is the same as the circulation of the regular Gujarati Mid Day, as per company claims. From Monday to Saturday, Gujarati Mid Day is 32-40 pages strong.

Manajit Ghoshal, managing director and chief executive officer, Mid-Day Infomedia, says, "Over time, there has been a demand from a majority of the readers to give them Mid-Day Gujarati every day, which includes Sunday, when they have more time to read. The product will fill the need of a weekend read, and can also be used as a weekly magazine for the rest of the week."

The highlight of the new edition will be the 32-page magazine in a tabloid format for leisure reading, which will not be open for advertising. Also, there will be city news, Bollywood and sports sections. The ad rate commanded by Gujarati Mid Day is Rs 390 per sq cm for the entire week, including the new edition.

Gujarati Mid Day was launched 16 years ago, and was an afternoon newspaper at that time. Later, it went on to become a morning tabloid.
