Hathway appoints Jagadesh Babu Botta as EVP, operations

He is is currently serving his notice period at Ignitee Digital as chief financial officer.

Hathway Cable and Datacom has been in the news recently for a variety of reasons, one of them being changes in its senior management. Now comes news that Jagadesh Babu Botta (better known as JB in the business), currently chief financial officer, Ignitee Digital, will be joining Hathway as executive vice-president, operations.

Hathway recently appointed Tata Sky's KV Anand as president, digital platforms. It may be recalled that over a month ago, an old hand in the company, K Jayaraman, ended his 15-year stint with Hathway to join Zee Group. A little prior to that, Reliance Industry's Jagdish Kumar was taken aboard as MD and CEO, while Jayaraman was elevated to be the vice-chairman in December, last year (just before he called it quits).

Meanwhile, though JB wasn't available for comment, sources close to the development confirmed the news to afaqs! saying that he was serving his notice period at Ignitee. The new mandate at Hathway is his first assignment, is out of the realm of finance.

JB has been in the media industry for about 13 years, and close to 10 years prior to that, he was associated with the finance and account departments at various companies.

A BCom graduate, he started his career with ITC as regional accountant-IBD Division in 1992. From there on, he moved to join News Television India (Star TV) as manager-Finance in 1995. This was his first stint in media; he stayed in the company for about four years. He then shifted to Prima Small Goods in the capacity of chief accountant in Papua New Giunea, Lae.

There on he moved to media industry and continues to be in the field till date. He joined Star India's Channel V as head of finance in 2000 for a short stint of 11 months. He then moved on to join Radio City as financial controller in 2001. Moving on to be the assistant vice-president, corporate at Star TV in 2005, he shifted base to Hong Kong.

Post another shorter stint of about five months, he moved to Tata Sky as general manager, finance. In 2006, he went back to join Star India in its News Outdoor Division as head of finance. He was shifted to become vice-president, joint ventures within Star India in 2008. In the same year, he moved on to join OOH India as chief financial officer, from where he joined Ignitee Digital in 2011.
