Mirchi Kaan Awards 2013: Ogilvy & Mather named Agency of the Year

Ogilvy & Mather wins the Agency of the Year award, while Shreyas Jain of Leo Burnett bags the Voice of the Year award. Anurag Agnihotri of O&M Advertising takes home the Radio Writer of the Year award.

The 10th Mirchi Kaan Awards, which celebrates the success of effective use of radio advertising, saw Ogilvy & Mather emerging as an absolute winner, taking away three gold, three silver and four bronze metals on the awards night. Besides this, the agency also won the Agency Of The Year Award. AnuragAgnihotri from the same outfit went home with the Radio Writer of the Year award. For their innovative and quirky Japanese ad for Perfetti Van Melle, the team also won the Crystal Award. Perfetti Van Melle was adjudged Client of the Year.

Last year's Agency of the Year, Leo Burnett came second with one gold, four silver and seven bronze metals. Shreyas Jain of Leo Burnett was bestowed with the Voice of the Year award for the Chandrashekar ad. Lingo India won the Excellence in Production award.

McCann Erickson won three gold, two silver and one bronze. JWT India bagged one silver and four bronze metals for its creative works across clients. The agency also won the Best Use of Radio as a Medium for its Airtel campaign.

While Scarecrow Communications was awarded three silver and four bronzes, Thought Blurp got four bronze metals. Grey Worldwide and Orchard Advertising won one bronze each.

Speaking about the awards, Vistasp Hodiwala aka Vispy of JWT Mumbai says, "It is always a pleasure to win an award for your work. It motivates the team to do better. Radio Mirchi is doing a good job to encourage not only the existing creative talents but also the future ones."

Manohar Nayak of Lingo India says, "I am so excited to have won this award. It feels good to be appreciated by my peers for the efforts we put in for our campaigns. Winning an award in this category five times in a row means there is something that we are doing right and we need to continue working innovatively."

G G Jayanta, national marketing head, ENIL (Radio Mirchi), says, "It has been a decade that we initiated this award ceremony. We are seeing the participation of agencies augment each passing year. This speaks volumes about the space that radio advertising has created in an overall campaign. We started with an aim to boost the creative minds in radio advertising and today we are seeing some of the most innovative ad campaigns on radio. We are proud to honour creative talents in the industry."

This year, the awards recorded 250 entries from 30 agencies. The jury members included Prasoon Joshi, executive chairman and CEO, McCann Group, McCann Erickson; Prathap Suthan, managing partner, chief creative officer, Bang in the Middle; Bobby Pawar, chief creative officer, South Asia, Publicis Worldwide; Josy Paul, chairman and national creative director, BBDO India; Ramanuj Shastry, founder, Infectious; Priti Nair, founder and director, Curry-Nation; Amit Akali, national creative director, Grey; Sainath Saraban, executive creative director, Leo Burnett; Anurag Agnihotri, group creative director, O&M; Vistasp (Vispy) Hodiwala, vice-president and senior creative director, JWT; Meera Sharat Chandra, founder, Tigress Tigress; Manohar Nayak, managing director, Lingo India; and Rekha Nigam, managing director, Vihaan Communications.
