RBNL's television business has made three key appointments

The network has created two fresh positions.

Reliance Broadcast Network has taken on board three people for its television broadcast arm. The network runs six channels, two in the regional space and four national channels. These include Big CBS Love, Big CBS Prime and Big CBS Spark, the three English entertainment channels; Big RTL Thrill, a male centric action channel; Big Magic, a Hindi GEC for the Hindi speaking markets and Spark Punjabi for the PHCHP (Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh) markets.

Anirudh Maheshwari has been appointed as the national sales head for language TV channels at Reliance Broadcast. In his new role, Maheshwari will be responsible for key decision making in the area of sales, and growing the business for the regional channels Big Magic and Spark Punjabi across geographies. The position was earlier handled by Arjun Singgh Baran, since January, 2012. Baran left the company in May.

Maheshwari, in his career spanning close to two decades, has been part of Citibank, ICICI Prudential Life, Standard Chartered Bank and Xerox. Client centricity, business focus and building teams are strong skill sets that promise to help him in his current role. At RBNL, he will report to Sunil Kumaran, business head, language TV.

The network has also created two fresh positions within the television business.

Shweta Arora joins the network as national sales head, Big CBS, which includes the three English general entertainment channels. Arora will head the sales function for Big CBS channels and will plan and drive the sales strategy for the country nationally to increase market share and revenues.

Arora started her career in 1997 with Indian Infrastructure Publications as assistant manager, marketing. She then moved on to join Sodexho Pass Services as manager, key accounts. Between 1999 and 2003, she was territory manager at Taj Group of Hotels. Moving on, she handled positions such as relationship manager at ABN Amro (2003-06); vice-president, wealth management at Kotak Mahindra (2006-08); and associate director at Citibank (2008-10).

Recently, she was with ING Vysya as associate business head, North since 2010.

In yet another appointment, Brijesh Tanna has taken over as head of content and communications for Big CBS channels. It must be noted that earlier, the channels did not have a content head, although there was an overall portfolio.

Tanna will play an integral role and lead the mandates of content, brand solutions, OAP (on air promotions) and marketing, among other areas. He was senior producer at STAR India and has also served as associate vice-president, content development and head entertainment, commissioning for Astro Malaysia.
