GEC Watch: Star continues its run at the top; Sony enters top 5

As per BARC data, Colors' 'Swaragini' is the top show this week.

BARC Data: Top GECs of Week 40: October 3 to October 9, 2015 HSM: NCCS All: Individuals: BARC India base C&S 1Lac+

As per BARC data, Star Plus continues to be the top channel in the Hindi GEC segment. It garnered 403347 GVTs (last week 425395); Colors followed with 396900 GVTs (last week 392848 GVTs).

Zee TV and Life OK are at the third and fourth positions with 253049 and 230947 GVTs respectively (last week: 236507 and 232855 GVTs). Sony Entertainment Television made an entry into the top five club this week with 176236 GVTs, taking the place of its sister channel SAB TV which had been at No. 5 for many weeks.

Top shows of Week 40: As per BARC data, Colors' 'Swaragini' jumped to the top spot from its third spot last week, with 6760 TVTs. The previous week's top show 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya' came in second with 6713 TVTs. Colors' show 'Sasural Simar Ka' with 6195 TVTs is at third spot, followed Zee's 'Kumkum Bhagya' (6092 TVTs) and Star Plus' 'Diya Aur Baati' (5797 TVTs).

TAM Data: Top Hindi GECs of Week 41 October 4 to October 10, 2015 HSM without LC1, C&S 4+

As per TAM data, Colors is the top channel with 247 GRPs, while Star Plus got 231 GRPs this week. Zee TV is at third spot (149 GRPs) and SAB TV came in fourth with 123 GRPs. Sony Entertainment follows closely with 122 GRPs, while at the fifth spot is Life OK with 121 GRPs.

&TV and Zee Anmol are at the seventh and eighth positions with 62 and 30 GRPs, respectively, followed by Star Utsav at No. 9 (27 GRPs) and Rishtey at No. 10 with 25 GRPs.

A look at the shows: As per TAM data too, the top show this time is 'Swaragini' which garnered 4.34 TVR. The next two slots have also been claimed by Colors' shows, namely 'Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat' (4 TVR) and 'Udaan' (3.93 TVR). At No. 4 and 5 are Star Plus' 'Saath Nibhana Saathiya' (3.71 TVR) and Colors' 'Sasural Simar Ka' (3.63TVR), respectively.

The last five spots in the list have been claimed by Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' (3.59 TVR), Diya Aur Baati Hum' (3.57 TVR) also by Star Plus, Zee TV's 'Kumkum Bhagya' (3.51 TVR), and Star Plus' 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' (3.44 TVR) along with Colors' 'Balika Vadhu' (3.44 TVR).
