Carruthers, who was the CEO, moves on after four fruitful years at the company
Putting market speculation to rest, afaqs! contacted Robin Carruthers, CEO of Clear Channel, who confirmed that he has put in his papers and is serving his notice period. April 30 will be his last day at the OOH media major.
Carruthers was promoted to the post of CEO in September 2008, around the same time that Adille Sumariwalla, Clear Channel India’s chairman and managing director had resigned, with the intention of taking a break to pursue other interests.
Carruthers joined Clear Channel in 2005 as national head of sales and moved on to the post of COO, before being appointed the CEO. He started his 13-year career at Grey Worldwide (then known as Trikaya Grey) in 1996 as a media planner. He has worked with various outdoor specialist agencies, starting with Primesite, and then moving on to MOMS, OAP and RMG David, before joining Clear Channel India.
Clear Channel Outdoor is one of the world’s largest outdoor advertising companies, with close to one million displays in 49 countries across five continents. It also operates airport, rail, taxi and mall advertising businesses worldwide.
