New Update

Chandra will continue to be associated with 70-odd projects related to infrastructure development

In a recent development at Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Amiya Chandra, officer on special duty, MCD, has moved out of advertisement liaising. BM Singh, an officer with MCD, will now handle this responsibility.

Confirming the news to afaqs!, Chandra says, "I will be there for all policy related matters and continue to give support to Singh, who will be involved with day-to-day responsibilities, such as demolition of illegal hoardings and license fee collection. I need to focus on infrastructure development projects related to the Games, which is why I decided to give up the additional responsibility."

Chandra will continue to be associated with 70-odd big and small infrastructure development projects, which are set to change the face of Delhi, before the beginning of the Commonwealth Games. These include the setting up of 1,000 state-of-the-art utilities and building 2,000 government-to-citizen (G2C) kiosks, which will provide access to government services, including requests, payment of electricity, water and telephone bills, birth and death certificates and passport applications. Later, business-to-citizen (B2C) services will also be available in selected kiosks.

Another important project is the rehabilitation of 2 lakh urban vendors by means of 'tehbazari' in 12 zones of Delhi.

All these initiatives planned by Chandra will work on build, own, operate, transfer (BOOT) system. Tenders will be floated for these initiatives, and winning bidders will be given ad rights on the properties by MCD.
