Sen has been promoted from president, projects at Laqshya; Soumitra Bhattacharyya is back for a second stint, this time as president, corporate affairs

Out of home (OOH) company Laqshya Media has undergone a few changes in the top management. To consolidate all its businesses under one brand, Indrajit Sen, erstwhile president, projects, now takes over as chief executive officer, Laqshya Media.

Sen will be responsible for both the media ownership business and the agency business, OMI, at Laqshya Media. This development follows the exit of Satish Singh, president, OMI, who has decided to move on. During Singh's stint, OMI showed tremendous growth and won many Indian and multinational clients. After a long and an eventful decade at Laqshya, the entrepreneurial bug bit Singh, due to which he decided to put in his papers.

Sen, who has spent about a year and a half at Laqshya, tells afaqs!, "Yes, I'll now look after both the businesses. I've stepped in after Singh decided to move on to become an entrepreneur." He adds, "So far, unconsciously, we were developing OMI as a separate business stream. However, now we've decided not to dilute and instead strengthen the Laqshya brand name and with me looking over both entities now, it will help this cause."

In an official statement, Alok Jalan, managing director, Laqshya Media, says, "Indrajit has a lot of experience in both forms of the OOH business and his vast knowledge will help Laqshya charter its course in the years to come."

In a parallel development, Soumitra Bhattacharyya, who had decided on an early retirement and quit Laqshya Media in February 2009 after spending two years as CEO, has decided to come back. He now takes over as president, corporate affairs.

Bhattacharyya will be instrumental in strengthening all facets of company governance, especially in improving the process deliverables. In fact, he has been working closely as an independent consultant on the formation of the credit policy discussed by industry veterans at the Outdoor Advertising Convention 2009.

Laqshya Media has charted major growth plans for 2010-11 and is looking at growing both organically and through acquisitions and large scale, high value concessions.

Sen informs that the company has just got a five year extension on its Colombo airport advertising rights. "Our existing media portfolios are growing; Laqshya plans to enter new cities. With all this, we are projecting considerable growth in the coming year," he says.

He also shares that a deal with an international company is underway but Laqshya is keeping this under wraps for now and will talk about it once the deal has been finalised.
