The partnership between the two focusses on the real issues surrounding reservation and commercialisation of education, by engaging the students of various colleges in the country.

Neeraj Sanan, executive vice-president and head, marketing and distribution, MCCS (STAR News, STAR Ananda, and STAR Majha) says, "This is classically a co-marketing initiative between Aarakshan and STAR News. These on-ground debates will be translated into episodes, and will be telecast exclusively on STAR News, in the second week of August. It will act as a means of providing content for us. As for the movie, it will get a platform to promote itself. Hence, this is a marketing-cum-content tie-up."

For this, the cast and crew of Aarakshan have already conducted debates on subjects related to different aspects of reservations in Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata, and will be soon held in Pune. The aim is to understand first-hand what the youth of India truly feels about the effects of reservation, and how it has affected them in each city. The panel discussions are being moderated by STAR News anchor Deepak Chaurasia.
