The channel will organise the second edition of Indiafest in Goa on a much larger scale this time, with mini fests across more than eight cities.
Channel V moves out of television to connect with the youth, its target audience, by starting off the second edition of its consumer connect initiative Indiafest, which is scheduled to be held in Goa on January 27-28, 2012. The channel had launched the first edition of Indiafest towards the end of 2010.
This year, Indiafest has been launched on a much larger scale, with 31 categories of competitions, including music, dance, movie quizzes, and sports. The venue selected for the grand event can hold more than 10,000 people. The previous year's venue had a capacity of 4,000-6,000 people. The channel has also roped in well-known international music composer Edward Maya to perform at the Grand Finale in Goa.
The launch of Indiafest has already kicked off with mini fests, which are inter-college festivals and zonals being organised across more than eight cities, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. The fests in Bengaluru and Chennai have been completed over the past two months. The Kolkata fest is scheduled to be held on December 23.
Through the Indiafest initiative, Channel V aims to engage the youth in an innovative way, and provide a national level platform to showcase young talent.
The mini fests reach out to 220 colleges such as Delhi College of Engineering, National Institute of Fashion Technology, South City College, J D Birla Institute of Management, and Amity Business School. More than one lakh students from various colleges across the country compete in the events. The winners from the mini fests will travel to Goa for the Grand Finale of Indiafest.
