Mid Day makes cosmetic changes to its Mumbai edition

Apart from a new design, there will be two sections -- one on news, opinion and sports, and the other on entertainment and the city.

Mid Day, the Mumbai-based afternooner, has implemented changes in its design and layout, and has also added some pages.

Starting September 6, the tabloid will be divided into two sections. The first section will deal with news, opinion and sports, while the second section will be about entertainment and the city. The second section will include films, television, city events and food guide, and lifestyle features on health, travel, sex, relationships, and fashion, among others. The entire section will come under HitList now.

The daily has increased its number of pages from 48 to 64 in Mumbai, of which 15 will be dedicated to city news. It has also reintroduced the editorial page, which was discontinued sometime back. The reintroduced page will carry views of columnists from across sectors, including politics, civic issues, national affairs, internal security, foreign policy, sports and fashion.

Moreover, apart from the front page, sports and HitList will also have individual cover pages to pique the reader's interest, every day. For the advertisers, the tabloid will have dedicated pages for classifieds and film advertising towards the end of the second section.

According to a company official, Mid Day, "The new design and structure have only one aim -- to make news and information relevant to our readers available in a simple and accessible manner."

Mid Day, a product by Jagran Prakashan, is published from Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Bengaluru.
