Pinstorm is a search engine-driven marketing company

Pinstorm, a Mumbai-based search engine-driven marketing company, has been included in Red Herring’s list of top 100 companies in Asia.

Enthused by this success, Mahesh Murthy, CEO, Pinstorm, says, “We are just a 15-month-old company and the news is still sinking in. We have been selected for this award for our technological innovations. We are the only search engine-marketing company from Asia to be honoured by the Red Herring Awards.”

Pinstorm has an arrangement with leading search engines such as Yahoo, Google, MSN and the Chinese search engine, Baidu, and it places links for its client companies in the relevant search pages of these. The company also designs websites for different companies.

Murthy says, “This is an effective way to reach out to micro-targets, irrespective of geographical boundaries.”

The company follows a ‘pay per result’ model, wherein it gets paid only for the leads or contacts it provides its clients.

With offices in India and Singapore, Pinstorm plans to open two more branches internationally. It has clients from Europe, Australia, China and the US.

It has also partnered with leading media agencies, such as Starcom, MindShare, Madison and Web Percept, to co-service their clients.

Pinstorm’s current list of clients includes ebay, American Express, Sharekhan, The History Channel, National Geographic Channel, WorldSpace Satellite Radio, Cry, Greenpeace, British Airways and Pan Pacific.

For the record, every year since 1996, Red Herring editors select the top 100 companies from Asia based on product, services and technological innovations.
