Both Zaheer Khan and Irfan Pathan have been roped in as brand ambassadors for the Chevrolet Tavera
General Motors is building close ties with Indian cricket. While it has signed on Irfan Pathan and Zaheer Khan as brand ambassadors for the Chevrolet Tavera, it has also announced that it will sponsor the Baroda Cricket Association for three years.
The Baroda Ranji Team features star cricketers representing the Indian cricket team, including Irfan Pathan, Zaheer Khan and upcoming players like Rakesh Patel, Jacob Martin and Connor Williams.
Rajeev Chaba, president and managing director, General Motors India, says, “Since customer feedback and market research have proved that the Tavera is an exciting, versatile and economical all rounder, we have been looking for personalities who symbolise the same values. We narrowed in on Irfan Pathan and Zaheer Khan. Our tie-up with BCA will also provide impetus to the training and coaching of more budding cricketers in this region.”
Talking about the development, Kiran More, secretary, Baroda Cricket Association Honorary and BCCI chairman of selectors, says, “General Motors is a multinational brand and this factor has induced immense enthusiasm amongst the players. There were a number of companies in the fray to sponsor the team. We selected GM because of the organisation’s goodwill. Irfan Pathan and Zaheer Khan will endorse the GM products and the other players will sport the Chevrolet bowtie on their equipment, attire and caps.”
GM India is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation. Besides the Chevrolet Optra, GM India manufactures the Chevrolet Tavera and the Opel Corsa at its facility in Halol, Gujarat. GM India also sells the imported Chevrolet Forrester.
