Spice Telecom, Punjab’s premier cellular service operator, has appointed Man Mohan Nandwani as the chief Operating Officer for the Punjab circle. His mandate here will be to boost the infrastructure and revenue earnings, and consolidate the entire work force for pan India operations. Prior to this, he used to head the international business division for Shyam Telecom as the president and chief operating officer.

With a career spanning over 30 years, Nandwani has widespread experience in sales and marketing in domestic as well as global markets. He has worked with companies such as Xerox and Ricoh and had a three year stint with an outdoor advertising company, More Group India, which has now been taken over by Clear Channel, USA.

Nandwani says, “Besides retail, it is the telecom sector that is shining bright today. Spice being very capital intensive, has extensive growth plans for future growth and it will be a challenge to stir the organisation to regain a superior position in the telecom industry.”

At Spice, Nandwani will report to Prakash Nanani, chief executive officer, Spice Telecom.

Nanani says, “Mohan (Nandwani) has a great experience in the telecom industry operations. With his expertise and skills we will be moving faster towards making Spice Telecom the preferred choice in mobile communication for the people of Punjab.”

Among his memorable projects in his expansive career span, he recalls the recent one with Shyam Telecom when foraying into the international market. He played a critical role in putting together resources and setting up offices for the organisation, reaching out from the US to Australia.

For the record, Spice Telecom has an extensive network across more than 205 cities and towns in the state, covering 95 per cent of Punjab’s urban area. It also has one of the highest international roaming coverage involving tie-ups with over 421 international operators across 201 countries.
