Chandy Mohapatra has joined the health insurance project to be launched as a joint venture between Apollo Hospitals and German insurance company DKV, as chief manager, marketing and communication. His last designation was director, client services, at Dentsu Marcom, New Delhi.

The joint venture is known by the name of Apollo DKV Insurance Corporation. Apollo holds a majority stake in this venture and plans to roll out five different health insurance products by the end of August this year. Mohapatra will be based in Gurgaon and his primary mandate will be to look after the company’s marketing, branding and communication requirements.

Mohapatra has done his MBA in marketing from MET, Mumbai, and is also a gold medallist in anthropology from Utkal University, Bhubaneshwar. He has been associated with Dentsu since 2005. His overall experience in advertising and marketing is nine years. After his MBA, he started his career in 1999 with Lowe. He worked there for over four years and joined the branding team with ‘Hindustan Times’ in New Delhi. At ‘HT’ he worked for a year and finally moved to Dentsu Marcom.

Some of the brands he worked on in Dentsu include Honda, Iffco-Tokio General Insurance, Daikin and Toshiba. Among his recent projects, he was instrumental in formulating the branding strategy for the launch of the 125 cc motorcycle, Honda Shine, and Iffco-Tokio’s hassle free claims.
