Oracle launches New Asia R&D And Partner Solution Centers in India

Oracle today launched two new centers ' the Oracle Asia Research and Development Center (OARDC) and Partner Solution Center (PSC) ' in India. The two centers, which are located at Gurgaon (near New Delhi), will focus on delivering Oracle and partner solutions to the Indian market and also to the Asia Pacific region. These two centers are a part of Oracle's 19 research, development and solution centers spread across Asia Pacific and Japan. This is a single research and development network by Oracle and its partners to build, test, adopt and also showcase leading-edge technology innovations across the region. The hardware infrastructure at the Oracle Partner Solution Centre at Gurgaon has been sponsored by SUN Microsystems and AMD.

With today's launch of the OARDC and PSC, Oracle now has seven development and solution centers in India. This includes an e-governance centre, a retail centre of excellence, as well as three global development centers at Bangalore, Hyderabad and NOIDA that focus on developing Oracle products for the global market. Oracle's investment in India over the past five years has crossed USD 3 billion.

Oracle is showing the way in the software industry to develop solutions that can effectively scale, meet the requirements for customer diversity and address a wide spread of market terrain, " said Brian Mitchell, senior vice president, Oracle Corporation, Asia Pacific Division. "The Gurgaon Oracle Asia Research and Development Center and Partner Solution Center will help us and our partners deliver creative and innovative IT solutions that will enable Indian enterprises and governments meet the local citizens' and consumers' unique needs."

"The Oracle Asia Research and Development Center and Partner Solution Center will undertake India-specific projects to enhance our capabilities in our E-Governance Center of Excellence, which was established in Gurgaon in 2003," said Krishan Dhawan, Oracle India managing director. "We expect these three centers which are co-located in Gurgaon, to work towards increasing the scope and usage for Oracle technology and applications amongst Indian industries and governments."

Oracle has built up its R&D capabilities steadily in India over the last 13 years, starting with the inaugural global development center, which was set up in Bangalore in 1994. Oracle's global product development teams constitute the largest product development population for Oracle in any country outside of the United States. The global product development teams continue to work on Oracle's global product development schedule.
