GMMCO POWER appointed as Perkins’ Indian distributor

Gmmco Ltd., part of the GP- CK Birla Group, has set up a new business division - GMMCO POWER at its headquarters in Chennai. GMMCO POWER has been appointed distributor for Perkins Engines in South, Central and Western India.

Perkins is the world leader in innovation, design and production of a wide range of state-of-the-art engines. The engines are manufactured at Perkin’s various plants in the United Kingdom. Perkins engines are known worldwide for their reliability, fuel-efficiency and ruggedness under all operating conditions. The comprehensive Perkins range includes prime movers for electrical power, agricultural, industrial & marine applications.

Gmmco Power brings the complete range of engines to the customer’s doorstep in India with efficient product support, spare parts and packages developed and supported by Perkins. As distributors for Perkins, Gmmco Power is equipped to market and maintain Perkins engines in India. With a L3 (Level three) capability certified by Perkins, GMMCO POWER will be the extended arm of Perkins in India.

Gmmco Power's new set up in Guindy Industrial Estate, Chennai, includes a fully equipped workshop to handle comprehensive engine maintenance, a well-stocked genuine parts store and sales and support teams.

Mr. Karl Vandermyde, Director Sales & Distribution Perkins Engines Company Ltd - U.K, in the presence of other Perkins officials and Mr. H.Jayaram Executive Director & CEO, GMMCO Ltd., will jointly inaugurate the new facility on 27th May 2009. Original Equipment Manufactures (OEM’s) from various sectors will be present on the occasion to have a first hand knowledge of Perkins products and services. Mr. T.K.Vishwanath, who heads the business, will be available at the site for product & service related queries.

Speaking on the development, Mr. H. Jayaram said, “GMMCO Power is fully equipped to handle Perkins business in India and will provide world class product support to its customers with complete after sales back up. This will be yet another milestone in GMMCO’s commitment to infrastructure development in India.
