Company Release, August 6
NEW DELHI
Indiagames has signed a worldwide licensing agreement (excluding Japan) with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group to bring wireless content based on Universal Pictures’ upcoming futuristic action-adventure film Serenity, to mobile phone users. Written and directed by Joss Whedon, (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel), Serenity is a futuristic action-adventure film scheduled for release in the Unites States and Canada on September 30, 2005.
Indiagames, known for its top selling mobile games published around the world, will develop and publish a Serenity Space Shooter title, allowing game play as Captain Malcolm of the Serenity spaceship in a top-view flying game. Players are challenged to make it to the planet Miranda; to get to the bottom of the conspiracy locked inside River’s mind—the conspiracy that the Alliance wants to cover up. The game allows players to fight their way through Alliance vessels, ground attacks and Reavers, while enjoying action levels interspersed with dexterity oriented docking levels. Players must pick up rebels (who will pay credits to be transported from one space port to the next) and use their credits to upgrade the Serenity spaceship. Earlier, Indiagames had also developed wireless content based on Joss Whedon’s famous television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
"We have wanted to do more business with Universal for a long time and we are really excited to see this through," stated Vishal Gondal, CEO, Indiagames.
"We believe that Indiagames is the best partner to translate the fun, adventure and rich visual universe of Serenity from the big screen to the handset,” said Jeremy Laws, vice president of Media Licensing and Strategy at Universal Studios Consumer Products Group.
