Just days after CNN.com toppled traffic records with its political coverage, users once again visited the site in record droves for up-to-the-minute coverage of Hurricane Gustav. Following the record-breaking number of total live streams served during its coverage of the U.S. Democratic National Convention, CNN.com/live more than doubled its highest day on record at the height of Hurricane Gustav, serving more than 1.7 million live video streams globally in one day. Overall, CNN.com served an impressive 5.4 million total video streams, both live and on-demand. According to Nielsen Online, VideoCensus, the CNN Digital Network stands as the No. 1 news site for video when ranked by total video streams (Nielsen Online, July 2008).
