Multi Screen Media Pvt Ltd airs the television premiere of Hannibal Rising on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 8 pm as the PIX Tent Pole Picture of the Month. Hannibal Rising is based on a novel written by Thomas Harris, the fourth in a series featuring his most famous character, Hannibal Lecter. The film is based on the book 'Behind the Mask' and chronicles the iconic serial killer's childhood and early adulthood.

The monstrous serial killer who was made famous by Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of the character in Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal and Red Dragon is back. Hannibal Rising depicts the circumstances under which Lecter grew up to become a genius doctor, a psychopath and a monster. The film stars the charming young French actor, Gaspard Ulliel as Hannibal Lecter.

Peter Webber is a British director who is best known for his debut feature film Girl with a Pearl Earring. Hannibal Rising, is his second film and is a prequel to the Lecter series that shows a young Hannibal Lecter in three different phases of his life from his tragic childhood in Lithuania during World War II to his ten years in France up to his time in North America, several decades before his capture by FBI agent Will Graham in Manhunter (Red Dragon is a remake of Manhunter!)

Hannibal Rising marks the first time in the award winning series that best selling author Thomas Harris, writes the screenplay - reaching back to explore the origins of Lecter's rage, terror and savagery.

The story begins in Eastern Europe at the desperate end of World War II. For many it was no longer a conflict of nations but one of individual survival – at any cost. This quest will ignite an insatiable lust within a serial killer who was not born, but made.
