Resident kids’ experts, Cartoon Network and POGO continue to dominate kids’ television in India with their innovative and compelling content. Enjoying a combined market share of 45% (TAM Media Research), Cartoon Network and POGO maintain their undisputed position as the #1 and #2 kids’ channels in India, respectively. Setting a new record, all of the top 100 transmissions of kids’ shows in 2008 belonged to Cartoon Network and POGO! The year’s success was highlighted with accolades for the two networks. Cartoon Network was awarded the best kids’ channel for 2008 in India at two leading Industry platforms including Indian Television Academy Awards and Platinum Television Awards. M.A.D., POGO’s popular art and craft show became the seven times consecutive winner of the “Best Children’s Show” title as it received the award from Indian Television Academy and RAPA Awards in 2008.

Cartoon Network ruled as the #1 national channel across all television genres in 2008 each time its Indian Animation line up aired. Krishna Janmasthmi – (Krishna – The Birth, Krishna – Makhan Chor, Krishna – In Vrindavan & Krishna – Kansa Vadh) garnered 36% shares; Ganpati (Bal Ganesh & My friend Ganesha) enjoyed a whooping 44% shares and Diwali festival gathered 25% shares. The network’s classic Tom & Jerry Cat and Mouse full House continues to be the all-time favourite across demographics retaining Cartoon Network’s top position with the highest shares of 39% (CS 4-14; All India audiences, January 1, 2008-Decemeber 6, 2008; Monday-Saturday; 18:30-19:29 hrs). Leading the charts was Cartoon network’s globally popular show - Ben 10 with the highest channel shares (42%) of ‘Back2back2back Ben 10’ (Sunday; 17:00 -18:29 hrs; week of December 6, 2008).
Offering the widest and most diverse content portfolio, POGO has the highest number of movie titles (99) and shows (34) amongst kids’ channel in India. POGO rules the mornings through the week as reflected by its strong performance during this day-part. POGO’s first Indian Animation acquisition, Chhota Bheem was a clear winner as it garnered the highest share of 31.48% when it aired. (CS 4-14; All India audience; week 15–week 49, Sun 9:30-9:59 hrs). Further, POGO led with the special block for mothers and their pre-schoolers called ‘Tiny TV’ as it was watched by 30% of mothers (Females 25-34; Mon-Thur; 9:00-11:59; January 1, 2008- December 13, 2008). POGO’s popular art & craft show M.A.D. rules the Sunday mornings with 25.1% channel shares (CS 4-14; All India audiences; Sun 10:30 -10:59 hrs; January 1, 2008-Decemeber 6, 2008).
