Sujay Kutty, Business Head, Zee Studio, said “It’s a matter of pride to have the exclusive rights to telecast the Screen Actors Guild Awards. It’s a memorable evening for every film buff, what with greats such as Meryl Streep, Sean Penn, Sally Field, Alec Baldwin and Kate Winslet walking up to clinch their trophies. Needless to add, Anil Kapoor and the cast of Slumdog Millionaire scoring a fabulous victory is the highlight for every Indian. We are certain our audience will thoroughly enjoy the treat”.

Held at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles for the 13th consecutive year on January 25, The Screen Actors Guild Awards is an international film & television awards show where only actors vote for actors! The star-spangled soirée had some of the finest actors of Hollywood walking away with laurels for their performances. What makes the Screen Actors Guild Awards greatly sought-after in the film fraternity is the fact that The Actor® trophy goes to the actors voted for by approximately 100,000 active members of the Screen Actors Guild in the United States.

At this year’s ceremony, veteran Hollywood actor Sean Penn took home the Actor® for his title role in the film “Milk”. The iconic Meryl Streep bagged the Actor® for her superlative portrayal of Sister Aloysius Beauvier in the critically acclaimed "DOUBT". The late Brokeback Mountain star Heath Ledger & gorgeous Titanic star Kate Winslet won the award for their performances in The Dark Knight and The Reader respectively. Sally Field of Mrs Doubtfire fame took home the Actor® for her role in the TV drama Brothers and Sisters.

Zee Studio, a 24-hour English movie channel, was launched in March 2000 and has been constantly driven by the passion of bringing quality cinema to the discerning Indian audience. Zee Studio is also the first English movie channel in India to bring English movies with subtitles, a move that has proved to be highly popular across all segments of viewers.
