NDTV Lumière is proud to begin its theatrical releases at Chandigarh with the critically acclaimed Spanish thriller, ‘The Orphanage’. After successful theatrical releases across eight cities in India, Chandigarh will be the latest world cinema destination in India. ‘The Orphanage’ is showing at Fun Cinemas, Mani Majra at 10.35 p.m.

Screened at the 2007 Festival de Cannes, The Orphanage is a beautifully crafted and fearsome movie tagged with a moving storyline depicts restless spirits, provoking fear and solace in equal measure.. Starting Friday, June 12th, 2009, this Spanish film with English subtitles will be screened every evening at Fun Cinemas, Chandigarh at 10.35 p.m.
Armed with a dream of restoring the long-abandoned orphanage as a home for disabled children, Laura (Belen Rueda) embarks on a new journey of discovery. She finds a troubling web that begins with Simon’s imagination and then transcends to long-hidden and terrible facts of the old house that is waiting to emerge and inflict appalling damage on her family. Laura with her husband Carlos (Fernando Cayo) and their 7-year-old son Simon (Roger Princep) invoke a gamut of feelings in the 100 minutes terror flick.
The recipient of the Barcelona Awards 2007 for Best Film and Best Actor, among 7 others, stars the brilliant Spanish actress Belèn Rueda and Geraldine Chaplin (the grand-daughter of Charlie Chaplin). This horror/thriller is directed by the award winning young film-maker Juan Antonio Bayona and is produced by the renowned Guillermo Del Toro.
