Speaking at the first of this lecture series by Entrepreneur magazine, Captain Gopinath highlighted the opportunities for entrepreneurs in India today on the backdrop of his own experiences in building Deccan Aviation, which was started with one aircraft. "Since then, we bought an aircraft every month-45 in 45 months," he recalled. India, he had said, has a golden age ahead of itself and the millions of issues faced by the country are potential opportunities for entrepreneurs, from infrastructure to technology. "India represents the aspirations of the world and the ecosystem is developing now," added Captain Gopinath.

The event had a select gathering of established entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and corporate executives. Post his talk, the floor was opened to questions for the audience who partook in a discussion on the Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem with Captain. Among the audience were Chandrasekhar Hariharan (Founder, Biodiversity Conservation India), Sonia Manchanda (Founder, Idiom Design and Consulting), Madhura Chatrapathy (Trustee, Ascent), Bharati Jacob (Managing Partner, Seedfund India), Mohanjit Jolly (Managing Director, Draper Fisher Jurvetson), Samir Kumar (Managing Director, Inventus Capital Partners) and others.
