UTV World Movies is always on the vanguard when it comes to promoting new talent. This time around it takes a step forward by showcasing the three winning entries of the 2011 Indian Film Festival: Bollywood & Beyond- short film competition on 25th June at 9pm.The channel was the exclusive TV partner for the IFF Short Film Competition initiated to find budding talent from across the globe.
The three winning films that will be aired on the channel include Indian director Collin Dcunha’s mini documentary ‘Mumbaikar Ganesh’. The film is based on the quintessential dream that every person has - to come to Mumbai, the city of dreams. The other film to be telecast is ‘Khatabah’ directed by Ridwan Hassan from Australia. ‘Khatabah’ is an intriguing film that revolves around the wave of democracy that is sweeping the Islamic World. The winning film from New Zealand is Rajneel Singh’s ‘Blank Spaces’ which is an interesting story of a young man who fulfils his dream of leaving his mark on a particular blank space on the map will also be telecasted on the channel.
The short film competition was adjudged by a celebrated panel of judges including veteran directors Rajkumar Hirani, Shimit Amin and Kabir Khan from India.
The 2011 Indian Film Festival: Bollywood & Beyond is a celebration of Indian Cinema wherein the best of Indian films are showcased for audiences in Australia and New Zealand. Though only in its second year, the festival received an overwhelming response through the presence of renowned celebrities like Vidya Balan, Malaika Arora Khan and others, screening of various films including the premiere of I Am in the presence of director Onir and actress Juhi Chawla and the successful Short film Competition which received massive entries from across the world.
