TRIVIA ü The theatrical release of the film is preceded by a Looney Tunes short film titled Daffy's Rhapsody. The short features Daffy Duck and Elmer Fudd in the first CG or 3-D depiction of these specific Looney Tunes characters. ü The original Jules Verne story Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008) never had a sequel. However, another Jules Verne story "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1870), did have a sequel, called "The Mysterious Island", which was released in 1874 and followed five American men stranded on an island in the South Pacific, which is similar to a plot point in this movie.

Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson) partners with his stepfather Hank (Dwayne Johnson) in a mission to find his grandfather who seems to have been lost at an unknown island. Sean receives a coded distress signal and Hank helps him to decipher the message. Embarking on the journey of getting their grandfather back, this dangerous expedition unfolds with unforeseen glitches that arise on their way of strange and threatening life forms, volcanoes, mountains of gold and more than one astonishing secret!
