Arvind Gupta has joined Healtheon/WebMD India Private Limited as managing director of the company's operations in Hyderabad. Healtheon/WebMD India Private Limited (erstwhile Healtheon Software India Private Limited) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Healtheon/WebMD Corporation.

Founded in Hyderabad in December 1998, Healtheon/WebMD India is a state-of-the-art facility focused on the development of mission critical Internet software for the healthcare industry.

It is Healtheon/WebMD's first engineering development centre outside the United States and plays a vital role in the operations of the parent company.

Prior to joining Healtheon/WebMD Gupta was the vice-president of Tata Consultancy Services, Gurgaon, India. He was in-charge of all projects, human resource, administration, operations, engineering services and manpower allocation functions for the centre.

During his 14-year tenure at Tata Consultancy Services, he was responsible for carrying out software development projects for some large financial institutions and banks in India and abroad. Gupta holds a degree in B.E (Mechanical) and a Masters in Business Administration from the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi.

He has over 24 years experience in carrying out IT assignments and has successfully completed IT projects for clients in India, Europe, Japan, the United States, Switzerland and the Middle East.

Pavan Nigam, chief technology officer of Healtheon/WebMD, hopes, "Gupta's leadership will enable the Hyderabad operations to move to the next level of growth as the company continues to grow and the need for strategic development project increases."
