The size of the account runs into several crores
Global mining company Vedanta Resources has finalised its advertising agency in India.
In a keenly contested agency pitch last week, JWT managed to edge past O&M and Lowe and bag the prestigious account. Bhaswati Banerjee, general manager – corporate communications, Vedanta Resources, has confirmed the development.
The size of the account runs into several crores, but the company declined to divulge the exact figure. It is learnt that the company is in the final stages of signing up the agency.
Vedanta Resources plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a diversified and metals and mining group with annual sales of $1.3 billion.
The company's principal operations are located in India – the company is known as Sterlite Industries in India – and has interests in aluminium, copper, zinc and lead. There are also substantial copper operations in Zambia and two copper mines in Australia.
Vedanta's Banerjee said, details about the work that JWT would do for the company were being considered at the moment. “It's too early to comment on this issue,” she added.
