Fourteen agencies from India – O&M, JWT, Mudra, Leo Burnett, McCann-Erickson, Rediffusion DY&R, Grey Worldwide, Lowe, Euro RSCG, Contract, Saatchi & Saatchi, Everest, Ambience Publicis and Publicis India – have made it to ‘The Work’ this year
Entries from over 200 agencies throughout Asia, Australia and New Zealand have been shortlisted to feature in the fifth edition of ‘The Work’. It is a matter of pride and prestige for any creative to have his work selected for this book. Fourteen agencies from India – O&M, JWT, Mudra, Leo Burnett, McCann-Erickson, Rediffusion DY&R, Grey Worldwide, Lowe, Euro RSCG, Contract, Saatchi & Saatchi, Everest, Ambience Publicis and Publicis India – have made it to ‘The Work’ this year.
O&M has been the star performer this year, with eleven entries. O&M has seven campaigns, a single print ad, a single poster, a single TV commercial and a single radio spot. These are the Business to Business campaign for Getty Images with three ads titled ‘Beauty’, ‘Faith’ and ‘Love’; the Magazine campaign for ‘Hot Wheels’ with four ads labelled ‘Flag Off’, ‘Cop’, ‘List’ and ‘Cleaner’; the Newspaper campaign for Fevicol with three ads titled ‘Kiss’, ‘Goddess’ and ‘Punk’; the Poster campaign for Apsara Sharpeners with two ads, ‘Sunflower’ and ‘Portrait’; the Poster campaign for Shipra Multiplexes & Malls with three ads, ‘Jam 1’, ‘Jam 2’ and ‘Jam 3’; the Public Service Print campaign or IAPA Adoption with three ads, ‘Print’, ‘Book’ and ‘Bed’; the Outdoor campaign for Duracell India with three ads, ‘Autorickshaw’, ‘Mini Bus’ and ‘Bus’; the Public Service Single Print for WWF, ‘Tags’; the Poster Single for Discovery Channel, ‘World Map’; the Television Single Commercial for Mentos, ‘Saloon’; and a radio spot for Guess brand in the Radio Singles category.
Not far behind is McCann-Erickson with eight entries that include one ambient, three campaigns, one poster and three TVC singles. These are the Ambient Single for Western Union ‘Tsunami Donation Box’; the Newspaper campaign for UTI Bank with three ads, ‘Plate’, ‘Bulb’ and ‘TV’; the Poster campaign for Virgin Atlantic with two ads, ‘Birds’ and ‘Animals’; the Poster single for Wonderbra, ‘Comic’; the Public Service campaign for Child Care with three ads, ‘Hustler’, ‘Pentmouse’ and ‘Playbaby’; the Television Single for Happydent ‘Lights’; the Television Single for Wonderbra ‘Car’; and the Television Single for Heal Foundation, ‘Boy’.
Leo Burnett also performed well with seven entries selected for reproduction: three campaigns (one poster campaign, two print campaigns), one single ad, one ambient, one single TVC and one TVC campaign. The listing features the Ambient single for Prerana, ‘Give the Girl Child a Chance’; the Business to Business Single, Dinodia Photo Library, ‘Bhopal Gas’; the Newspaper campaign for Tide Detergent with four ads, ‘Kerala’, ‘Calcutta’, ‘Taj Mahal’ and ‘Benares’; the Newspaper campaign for Maneland Jungle Lodge with four ads, ‘Receptionist’, ‘Waiter’, ‘Sweeper’ and ‘Chauffeur’; the Poster campaign for Mrs Kapur’s Guest House with four ads, ‘Sob Story’, ‘Eat Green’, ‘Quilt’ and ‘Dial 9’; the Public Service TV Single for Prerana, ‘Tip’; and the Television campaign for Heinz Ketchup with two ads, ‘Housewife’ and ‘Restaurant’.
JWT got six acceptances in the annual with two ambient, one newspaper, two campaigns and one television craft. These are the Ambient Single for Kingfisher Beer’s ‘Door Handle’; the Ambient Single for Lehar Kurkure Spicy Snack, ‘Firestarter’; the Newspaper Single for Apollo Tyres, ‘Note’; the Print Craft campaign for Levi’s Slim Jeans, ‘Slim Figure 1 to 5’, for good art direction and illustration; the Poster campaign for Levi’s Slim Jeans, ‘Slim Figure 1 to 5’; and the Television Craft Single for Levi’s Slim Jeans, ‘Slim vs Slim Music’.
Mudra showcases two ambients and three campaigns in ‘The Work’. These are the Ambient Single for Cancer Patients Aid Association, ‘Cigarette Lighter’; the Poster campaign for Godrej Farm Fresh Produce Store, ‘Dirty Body Campaign’; the Poster campaign for SBI Debit Card with two ads, ‘Dhobi’ and ‘Boot Polish’; the Poster Campaign for Relpipe with two ads, ‘Fractured Hand’ and ‘Walking Stick’; and the Ambient Single for HBO’s ‘Sex in the City’, titled ‘Dumped’.
Ambience Publicis, Grey Worldwide, Rediffusion DY&R, Saatchi & Saatchi and Lowe have two entries each.
Ambience has its work for Hit Mosquito Repellent in the Print category and that for Metropolis Pathological Labs, titled ‘X-Ray’, in the Outdoor Single. Grey Worldwide has a Newspaper campaign for The Matchseeker, titled ‘Maps’, and an Ambient campaign for Child Care India, titled ‘Beggar Boys’.
Rediffusion DY&R features with an Ambient Single for PVR Theatre’s ‘King Kong’, titled ‘Banana Mountain’, and a Single Print ad for the i-Pod, titled ‘Crowded Places’. Saatchi & Saatchi showcases an Outdoor campaign for Ariel, titled ‘Corners’, and a Single Print ad again for Ariel, titled ‘Eraser’. Lowe has one Outdoor for Woodland, titled ‘Climbing Shoes’, and one Ambient for Khoj.
Exhibiting one entry each are Contract, Euro RSCG, Everest and Publicis India. Contract has an Ambient for the discotheque, Enigma, titled ‘Rubber Stamp’. Euro RSCG has one Print campaign for Cancer Patients Aids Association, titled ‘The Monsters’. Everest has one Ambient, again for Cancer Patients Aids Association, titled ‘Grave Yard’. Publicis India has one Public Service TVC against smoking, titled ‘Sniper’.
For the record, ‘The Work’ is a hardback publication. An ad needs to be a winner or a finalist in categories such as Outdoor, Print: Single, Print: Campaign, Radio, Television and Ambient at any international, national or regional award shows to be part of the annual book.
