Alok Rakshit appointed COO for Showdiff Worldwide

Rakshit will head Showdiff’s operations and overall business development as chief operating officer

Alok Rakshit has been appointed chief operating officer for Showdiff Worldwide. Formed in 2003, Showdiff Worldwide is a joint venture between Rediffusion DY&R and ex-cricketer Ravi Shastri for events, sports and celebrity management.

Speaking of Rakshit’s appointment, Conrad Saldanha, CEO, Showdiff Worldwide, says, “Alok’s decade-long experience in the media space will provide the right impetus for our young and dynamic team across the country.”

“My expertise lies with brands and channels. I wanted to integrate my experience from over the years into an organisation that focuses on a wide array of activities, and Showdiff does just that,” says Rakshit on his move to Showdiff.

Rakshit used to be director at Big Bang Media (the exclusive ad sales concessionaire and content provider for Sify.com). He has also worked with BCCL as senior manager, sales and marketing. He was head, sales and marketing for Channel 4 Network’s 89.1 Radio 4 FM. He has worked with the TV Today network as senior manager, sales and marketing, and also headed the sales team for the Zee Group’s channels, ETC and Zee Music.

For the record, Showdiff Worldwide offers services in the domains of celebrity management, event management and conceptualisation, content syndication, sports marketing, sponsorship and rights.

Headquartered in Mumbai, Showdiff has offices in Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata.

In 2006, Showdiff entered into a partnership with Havas Sports, the sports marketing arm of the global Havas Group. Rakshit reveals that Showdiff’s next activity is Good Earth, an under 14 and 16 tennis tournament.
